Manufacturing technician and manufacturing engineer apprenticeship programme

Manufacturing technician and manufacturing engineer apprenticeship programme

Tricel is now inviting applicants for our Manufacturing Technician and Manufacturing Engineer Apprenticeship Programme for entry October 2018. The programme will operate from our Killarney based plant in conjunction with Cork Institute of Technology.

Apprenticeship Programme Details:

The Programme is an opportunity to earn while you learn and work. You’ll learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary for a successful career in manufacturing. The Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship (National Framework Qualification Level 6) is a two-year programme resulting in a Higher Certificate in Engineering with the follow-on third-year enabling thesuccessfull participants to receive a Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing (Level 7). Additionally, Tricel will provide the apprentices with specialised industry-specific training and mentoring.

Who is the apprenticeship for?

This apprenticeship initiative is suitable for school leavers who have completed their Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) or existing Production Operators and Technicians. The programme gives such applicants an opportunity to train or upskill, in the most up to date requirements for the engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Minimum entry requirements:
• Irish Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) – Applicants must have obtained a minimum of five O6 (pass) grades. These subjects must include grade O6/H7 or higher in Mathematics and English or Irish.
• Leaving Certificate Applied (or equivalent) – Applicants must have obtained FETAC Level 5/6 Award.
• Minimum English requirements apply for EU & Non-EU applicants.
• Candidates will need to demonstrate strong communication and team skills.
• Good timekeeping and attendance is essential.

What will the apprentice do?

70% of the time will be spent on the job, where you will be assigned a mentor and complete on-the-job training and assignments along with day to day factory duties such as direct production and maintenance work. The remaining 30% (15 weeks per year) will be spent in Cork Institute of Technology (CIT). The first block release to CIT will begin in January 2019.

The 2-year Manufacturing Technician Programme will teach you how to provide a technical support function for manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues, validation and qualification of the manufacturing site.

Applicants will be encouraged to progress to year 3 of the programme to gain the Manufacturing Engineering Accreditation. This Manufacturing Engineering Programme will teach you how to facilitate efficient operations within the production area, to optimise existing processes, implement new processes and to ensure that production goals are met.

Business & French Graduate

Business and French Graduate

Tricel have a vacancy for a Business and French graduate. The role will be based at our headquarters in Killarney with a number of months training based in our factory in France to fully develop language and cultural skills. The position will include the following responsibilities:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the company’s products.
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of the business processes.
  • Support the sales team in either an internal or client facing role.
  • Working in collaboration with the Sales and Marketing teams to support business development strategies.
  • Assist in the company’s expansion into developing markets.
  • Undertake market research on the market, competitors and trends.

Candidate Criteria:

  • Minimum 2.1 Honours Business Degree with French
  • Fluent in French
  • Have the desire to grow your career.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • IT literate
  • Be flexible in your approach to work and be willing to travel

Finance Graduate

The position will include the following responsibilities:

  •  All aspect of accounts preparation and presentation.
  • Management accounting and costings.
  • Budget and forecast preparation.
  • You will be encouraged to study towards an accountancy qualification and receive a generous study package including financial assistance and study leave.
  • Other ad hoc projects.

CANDIDATE CRITERIA

  • 2.1 Honours degree in a Business discipline.
  • Prepared to undertake professional accountancy examinations.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and proficient in other MS Office applications.
  • Highly motivated, capable of working on own initiative.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Engineering Graduate

The position will include the following responsibilities:

• To support the introduction/implementation of product/process/materials changes to the manufacturing operation.
• To provide technical support to product and process development.
• To undertake specific projects as designated in support of the business activities.
• Lead and participate in problem solving teams.
• Ensure plant adherence to and improvement of quality systems requirements and procedures.

CANDIDATE CRITERIA

• 2.1 honours degree in engineering or related discipline.
• Strong interpersonal skills as part of a dynamic team structured environment.
• Fluency in French or German would be an advantage.
*The role will be based in Killarney but will require travel to other group manufacturing sites.

Undergraduates

Finance Undergraduate

The undergraduate will be involved in and gain experience in the following areas:

• Accounts preparation and presentation.
• Management accounting and costings.

• Participate in continuous improvement programmes with clear and measurable objectives.

• Studying towards a degree level in Business/HR or related discipline.
• Strong interpersonal skills as part of a dynamic team structured environment.
• Highly motivated, capable of working on own initiative.

*The role will be based in Killarney.
